Grievances

The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is committed to providing prompt and effective resolution of incidents of discrimination and harassment by University employees, and encourages informal resolution of discrimination complaints as close to the source as possible.

In line with applicable University policies, students with disabilities have full access to the University's discrimination compliance and grievance procedures for students, including access to the Office of Diversity, Equity and Access, the Ombuds Office, and the Office of Student Affairs.

In addition to filing discrimination complaints with the above-referenced offices, complaints regarding the denial of requests for accommodations, academic adjustments or auxiliary aids and services may be addressed to those offices, or may also be appealed to the Director of DRES or to the Dean of the College of Applied Health Sciences, to which DRES reports administratively, when such requests were originally filed through DRES.

Appropriate sanctions may be imposed on the basis of conclusive findings of discrimination, on a case-by-case basis.
