Interpreting/CART

For University of Illinois students who have a documented hearing loss or deafness, DRES will provide qualified sign language interpreters or Computer Assisted Realtime Translation (CART). Immediately after registering for classes, students requesting interpretering/CART services must inform the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Specialist of the classes and times for which interpreters/CART will be required. The specialist will endeavor to schedule interpreters/CART in accordance with qualifications and experience.

For University campus community events requests which require an interpreter or CART services, the sponsoring entity will need to submit the Department request for Interpretation or Cart request form at least two weeks in advance.   To cancel services, call the DRES office at 333-4605 no less than 48 hours prior to the start of the scheduled event.  In case of lesser notification, the event sponsor will be charged at the identified hourly rate for the minimum number of hours stipulated.
